Police crime statistics 2018 - Number of thefts in Switzerland has fallen by half since 2012

Neuchâtel, 25.03.2019 - In 2018, the police recorded around 112 000 thefts, representing a decrease of 7.9% compared with the previous year. Since 2012 – a record year with 219 000 thefts – the number of offences has fallen by over 100 000. However, certain offences have shown an increase including fraud that has doubled over the same period according to the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
