New Swiss ambassadors

Bern, 30.01.2019 - A number of staff changes have been announced for 2019 at the Permanent Representation of Switzerland to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome, as well as the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and to the other international organisations in Geneva. The changes will take place as part of the periodic transfer rotation and on the basis of appointments made by the Federal Council on 30 January 2019.

Pio Wennubst, currently assistant director general (with the title of ambassador) and head of Global Cooperation at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Bern, will become the new permanent representative of Switzerland to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome. The Federal Council has also conferred upon him the title of ambassador for this function.

FĂ©lix Baumann, currently consul general in Milan, has been appointed as the new head of the Multilateral Affairs Division and deputy permanent representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and to the other international organisations, permanent representative of Switzerland to the Conference on Disarmament, and special representative of Switzerland to the Human Rights Council in Geneva. The Federal Council has conferred upon him the title of ambassador for this function.
