Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis meets the members of the Ticino State Council

Bern, 26.11.2018 - As part of the structured political dialogue with the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, which includes Poschiavo in the canton of Graubünden, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis today received all the members of the State Council of the Canton of Ticino at the Federal Palace.

Mr Cassis and the state councillors took stock of bilateral relations with Italy, focusing in particular on cross-border relations and the agreement on the taxation of cross-border commuters. They also discussed the social and debt situation in Campione d'Italia (an Italian exclave in Ticino) and its customs status. The state councillors briefed Mr Cassis on the progress of infrastructure and transport projects related to the 2030 Ticino Mobility Programme.

Mr Cassis took advantage of the meeting to brief the Ticino State Council on recent developments in European policy.

On behalf of the FDFA, the meeting was also attended by the State Secretary and head of the Directorate for European Affairs, Roberto Balzaretti, and by Ambassador Pietro Piffaretti, head of the Bilateral Relations Division (responsible for relations with EU member states) and on behalf of the FDF, Valentino Rosseli, State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF). The five State Councillors were accompanied by the State Chancellor Arnoldo Coduri and by Francesco Quattrini, the Canton's delegate for external relations.
