Federal Councillor Parmelin attends the Halifax International Security Forum

Bern, 16.11.2018 - Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin is paying his second visit to the Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) in Canada, which this year is being held from 16 to 18 November. The Head of the DDPS will be holding bilateral talks with his Canadian counterpart Harjit Singh Sajjan, among others. He will also use the opportunity to discuss security policy matters with other defence ministers and with political and business leaders.

Federal Councillor Parmelin will attend a variety of bilateral working meetings in Halifax, including talks with the Canadian defence minister, Harjit Singh Sajjan. They plan to discuss international security issues and cooperation between Switzerland and Canada on security and defence procurement policy.

The Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) offers the opportunity at a personal level to exchange views and make new contacts with representatives from the fields of politics, research, education and business. The programme includes presentations, discussion panels and bilateral working meetings, as well as opportunities for informal discussions between participants.

This year the Forum is focusing on global shifts in power. In addition, other matters relevant to security will be discussed in the events and the bilateral meetings.
