Swiss Forestry Statistics 2017 - Timber harvest on Swiss privately-owned forests increased in 2017

Neuchâtel, 18.07.2018 - (FSO) – The Swiss timber harvest increased again in 2017 following the low point of the previous year. With a total of 4.69 million m3, 5% more timber was harvested than in 2016. This increase was due in particular to a 12% rise in timber harvests on privately-owned forests. However, there was no improvement in the financial situation of Swiss forestry holdings. These are some of the findings from the Federal Statistical Office’s (FSO) Swiss Forestry Statistics and from the test forestry operations network run by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
