Working visit of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer to Austrian Finance Minister Hartwig Löger

Bern, 29.06.2018 - Today, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer is paying a working visit to his Austrian counterpart Hartwig Löger in Vienna. During the meeting, bilateral finance and tax issues between Switzerland and the EU will be addressed. Bilateral relations between Switzerland and Austria are close at all levels and are characterised by mutual trust.

The visit is taking place in view of Austria's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2018. Meetings of this nature take place regularly to discuss the priorities and positions of the country holding the chair. Switzerland and Austria share the same values: they are interested in sound budgetary policies, open markets and a stable financial system as a framework for sustainable growth. Bilateral relations in the business and financial sector are excellent.

In the meeting of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer and Finance Minister Hartwig Löger, in particular bilateral issues with the EU in the financial market area and tax issues such as the Federal Act on Tax Reform and AHV Financing (TRAF), as well as taxation of the digital economy and the automatic exchange of information will be discussed. In addition, the two men will discuss Brexit and the developments in Italy.
