Improving the accessibility of post offices and postal agencies

Bern, 27.06.2018 - The Federal Council is seeking to improve the accessibility of Swiss Post's post offices and agencies in order to take account of regional needs and circumstances in the provision of services forming part of the universal service in postal and transaction services. Communication between Swiss Post and the cantons and municipalities will also be improved. With these adaptations, the Federal Council is following the recommendations of the Working Group on the universal service in relation to postal and transaction services set up by federal Councillor Doris Leuthard in August 2017. The Federal Council put a corresponding revision of the Postal Services Ordinance out to consultation on 27 June 2018. The amendments will be introduced by 1 January 2019. The consultation lasts until 31 August 2018.
