Federal Council amends Heavy Vehicle Charge Ordinance

Bern, 09.03.2018 - The Federal Council decided on various amendments to the Heavy Vehicle Charge Ordinance (HVCO) during its meeting on 9 March 2018. The amendments will enter into force on 1 May 2018.

With these amendments to the HVCO, the provisions necessary for the introduction of a European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) will be incorporated in the HVCO. This will simplify the levying of charges for foreign vehicles. Within the scope of the EETS, foreign carriers may mandate collection service providers. These can provide them with on-board units and make payments to the Federal Customs Administration (FCA).

In addition, experience from the implementation of procedural revisions up to now will be taken into account. Furthermore, interest will now be payable according to the Federal Department of Finance Ordinance on Interest on Late Payments and Refunds and fees will no longer be charged in the case of payment reminders.

The amendments will enter into force on 1 May 2018.
