Meeting between German-speaking finance ministers in Switzerland

Bern, 22.08.2017 - On 21 and 22 August 2017, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer received the German-speaking finance ministers Wolfgang Schäuble (Germany), Hans Jörg Schelling (Austria), Pierre Gramegna (Luxembourg) and Adrian Hasler (Liechtenstein) in Winterthur and Zurich for the traditional exchange. The five finance ministers discuss current financial and fiscal policy topics in the context of this meeting, which takes place each year.

The ministers discuss economic and political developments and international regulatory and tax matters, among other things, during the traditional meeting. They likewise address the challenges facing the authorities due to the progressive digitisation also in the financial sector, e.g. in the areas of promotion of innovation, security, client protection and taxation.

The German-speaking finance ministers meet annually in order to exchange ideas on topical issues in an informal setting. Germany will host the meeting in 2018.
