Victim support statistics 2016 - More compensation and consultation services for crime victims

Neuchâtel, 19.06.2017 - (FSO) – In 2016, CHF 6.3 million was paid out to 715 crime victims by the compensation authorities (+3.7% compared with the previous year). Benefits paid out have fallen by a third since 2000. The victim consultation centres provided consultations in 35,189 cases (+4% compared with the previous year). Half of consultations involved crimes in which the victim suffered physical impairments due to an assault or act of aggression. These are some of the results from the latest survey on victim support assistance conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
