Annalise Eggimann named as Director of Innosuisse

Bern, 22.03.2017 - The Federal Council today approved the appointment, proposed by the Innosuisse Board, of Annalise Eggimann, the current director of the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), as the director of Innosuisse. The appointment marks a further important step in the transformation of the current CTI into the Confederation’s new legally independent promotion agency from 2018.

In the summer session of 2016, the Federal Assembly approved the transformation of the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) into a public entity under the name of Innosuisse. Innosuisse will assume the CTI’s function as the Confederation’s promotion agency for science-based innovation and will come into operation on 1 January 2018.

2017 is a year of transition during which numerous preparations have to be made before the agency can take up its activities under its new legal form. To that end the Federal Council implemented the organisational provisions of the Innosuisse Act (SAFIG, SR 420.2) with effect from the start of 2017 and named the new board, Innosuisse’s governing body chaired by André Kudelski, at the end of 2016. The Innosuisse Board has since been working on making all the necessary preparations, which includes selecting the agency’s director. That decision has now been taken. The Innosuisse Board has appointed Annalise Eggimann as the director of Innosuisse with effect from 1 April, and has put her name forward to the Federal Council for approval. In addition to preparing for the official launch of Innosuisse, Ms Eggimann will continue in her role as director of the CTI Secretariat until the end of the year.

In making their selection the Innosuisse Board and the Federal Council have chosen a leader with a proven track record. Given her expertise and extensive management experience (e.g. at the Swiss National Science Foundation and OFCOM) the trained lawyer, who also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Zurich, has the necessary profile to perform this task. Through her work as CTI director (since 2015) she is well aware of the challenges ahead and has what it takes to excel in her new role at Innosuisse.
