Transalpine and cross-border passenger transport 2015 - Swiss residents mainly crossed the border for leisure activities in 2015

Neuchâtel, 16.03.2017 - (FSO) – In 2015, a daily average of 2.2 million persons crossed the Swiss borders by road and rail. The Alpine Arc was crossed by 110,000 persons per day. For both cross-border and transalpine passenger transport, leisure activities were the main reason for trips. These are some of the findings of an extensive survey conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) in 2015 at Swiss border and Alpine crossings.
