New head of the Land Systems competence sector

Bern, 20.10.2016 - The Head of the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, has announced that Reto Maurer will succeed Hans Jörg Feller as head of the Land Systems competence sector armasuisse.

Reto Maurer first completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship and subsequently obtained a Dipl. Masch. Ing. FH degree in mechanical engineering. He started his professional career as a project engineer at Mowag AG in Kreuzlingen. While in this position, he continued his studies and obtained a degree in business engineering (Dipl. Wirtschafts.-Ing. HTL/STV). Thereafter he was appointed as head of Commercial Vehicles and as a regional sales manager. During this time, he studied for an MBA from the University of Strathclyde Graduate School of Business.

After 19 years at Mowag AG, Reto Maurer transferred to Rheinmetall Air Defence AG as sales director for Western Europe. As of March 2012, he was Vice President Sales / Middle East, South Africa and Switzerland and deputy head of Marketing and Sales.

Reto Maurer has excellent management skills as well as in-depth private-sector expertise. Thanks to his long years of service in project management and in the sale of major armaments projects both at home and abroad, he is also well versed in public procurement.
