First results of the language, religion and culture survey 2014 - language – Multilingual Switzerland

Neuchâtel, 05.10.2016 - (FSO) - Whether to communicate with family and friends or at work or just to watch television or surf on the internet, almost two-thirds (64%) of Switzerland's population use more than one language at least once a week. 38% use two, and a quarter (26%) three or more. After German, Swiss-German and French, English is fourth among the languages used regularly. These are the main findings on language use from the language, religion and culture survey conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) in 2014.
