Report on the living situation of the middle income group 2013 – How is the middle income group faring?

Neuchâtel, 03.10.2016 - (FSO) - In 2013, the middle income group accounted for 58.1% of the population. There can, however, be quite substantial differences in the actual living situations within this group. One in four faced financial difficulties in the lower middle group, while this figure was only one in ten for the upper middle. Among the lower middle group, social contacts were considerably fewer and trust in Switzerland's political and legal systems far lower than among the upper middle. These are some of the findings from the new report by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on the living situation of the middle income group.
