Population size and change in Switzerland: definitive figures 2015 – Uri the only canton with a declining population

Neuchâtel, 26.08.2016 - (FSO) - In 2015, Switzerland's population increased by 1.1%, i.e. less sharply than in 2013 and 2014. The change was brought about by the interplay of births, deaths, immigrations and emigrations. These demographic events influenced demographic growth in the cantons differently. An increase in population was seen in all cantons but Uri. There are now 2 million foreign nationals residing in Switzerland. These are the final results of the population and households statistics (STATPOP) from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
