Federal budget impacted by parliamentary resolutions and asylum expenditure

Bern, 29.06.2016 - During its meeting today, the Federal Council materially approved the 2017 budget with the integrated task and financial plan (ITFP) for 2018 to 2020. The 2017 budget has a financing deficit of approximately 600 million. Because of the exceptionally strong migration expenditure growth, the Federal Council has asked Parliament to post some of it as extraordinary expenditure. The Federal Council expects annual deficits of 1.4 billion to 2 billion in the 2018-2020 financial plan, due not only to migration expenditure, but also to parliamentary resolutions that will put a burden on the budget from 2018 onward. The Federal Council will present a further stabilisation package for 2018 to 2020 in the autumn.
