The FDFA condemns attack in Tel Aviv

Bern, 10.06.2016 - The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) condemns the attack carried out in Tel Aviv on 8 June 2016 which claimed at least four lives and several injuries. Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, head of the FDFA, extends his condolences to the victims' families and expresses his solidarity with those who suffered injuries.

In a regional security context marked by an upsurge in violence, the FDFA calls on all parties to show restraint and to take measures to prevent an escalation. The FDFA also urges the Palestinian political actors, and Hamas in particular, to oppose all incitements to violence. It also calls on the Israeli authorities to take into consideration the consequences its measures will have on the rights of the Palestinian population.
