Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer receives Luxembourg's Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna

Bern, 15.03.2016 - This afternoon, Finance Minister Ueli Maurer received his Luxembourg counterpart Pierre Gramegna in Bern. The talks focused on an exchange on the macroeconomic situation in Europe and the most important international financial and tax issues.

The finance ministers of both countries pursue common interests in various areas and often represent converging views in international bodies. The exchange of views and experience between Pierre Gramegna and Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer also addressed areas in which Switzerland and Luxembourg find themselves faced with the same challenges.

One such area is the automatic exchange of information (AEOI), where Luxembourg and other countries are implementing early exchanges and have also created the necessary legal framework. Moreover, the two finance ministers also discussed the OECD/G20 base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project and its implementation status particularly in Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Today and tomorrow, the Luxembourg finance minister will attend an event in Geneva and Zurich to promote Luxembourg's economy ("Luxembourg for finance").
