Christoph Schelling, Ambassador and Head of SIF Tax Division, appointed to Bureau of OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs

Bern, 22.01.2016 - The Committee on Fiscal Affairs of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) elected Christoph Schelling, Ambassador and Head of the Tax Division of the State Secretariat for International Financial Matters (SIF), as a member of its Bureau, effective as of 1 January 2016. The term of office is three years.

The Bureau is the governing body of the Committee on Fiscal Affairs and is responsible for preparing the committee's meetings. In its extended form (the Bureau Plus), it includes representatives of G20 countries that are not also OECD members.

The Committee on Fiscal Affairs is the OECD body that governs the development of international recommendations and standards in tax matters. It shapes the OECD Model Convention, which serves as a basis for more than 3,000 bilateral double taxation agreements worldwide, and performs the technical work for developing international standards in tax matters, particularly in the area of the exchange of information and corporate taxation (currently the action plan on base erosion and profit shifting, BEPS). The committee also serves as a platform for the exchange of opinions on tax policy and administrative issues. A large number of working groups and forums support its work in collaboration with the participating countries and the secretariat.
