The OSCE awards Heidi Tagliavini
Bern, 18.12.2015 - Heidi Tagliavini, was awarded the medal of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on 17 December 2015. Heidi Tagliavini was honoured with the award for her tireless efforts to contribute to the resolution of the conflict in the east of Ukraine.
The Secretary-General of the OSCE, Lamberto Zannier, who presented her with the medal, praised Heidi Tagliavini's unwavering commitment to the mission. Ms.Tagliavini was appointed Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine by the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Didier Burkhalter, in June 2014. She carried out the task until June 2015, by which time the OSCE Chairmanship had passed to Serbia.
The OSCE pointed out that Ms. Tagliavini's efforts and her leadership within the Trilateral Contact Group, comprising the High Representatives of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE, as well as the creation, at her initiative, of working groups on political, security, humanitarian and economic matters were unanimously welcomed.
