2014 state financial statements slightly in the red – corrections necessary for 2016 budget

Bern, 11.02.2015 - Today, the Federal Council took note of the results of the 2014 state financial statements and determined the fiscal policy framework for the next budget process. The Confederation ended 2014 with a deficit of CHF 124 million, whereas a surplus of CHF 121 million had been expected in the budget. Receipts and expenditure came in considerably below budget. The outlook has deteriorated noticeably because of the lower receipts. With regard to the 2016 budget and the 2017-2019 legislature financial plan, the Federal Council has thus decided on adjustment measures of CHF 1.3 billion.
