Federal Administration's new telephone numbers now in use

Berne, 25.03.2014 - New telephone numbers have been in operation in the Federal Administration since 1 March 2014. The new numbers can be looked up on the website of the Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU). The Federal Administration can be contacted via both the old and new numbers until spring 2015.

As part of the upcoming rollout of "Unified Communication & Collaboration (UCC)" and the resultant merging of the telephone and IT system, the Federal Administration has introduced new telephone numbers. During the switch in numbers, the entire Federal Administration is also being assigned the same prefix: 058. Employees now have personal telephone numbers which are not restricted by location and can remain the same should their work location change. The switch will occur in phases, as follows:

  • From 1 March: Incoming calls can be made to both the old and new numbers. Both numbers will remain in operation at least until spring 2015. This gives the administrative units enough time to adapt all corporate communication material. The displaying of the new numbers for outgoing calls will be staggered.

  • From 1 June: The new number will be displayed for all outgoing calls.

  • From spring 2015: The old numbers will be disconnected in consultation with the administrative units.

Existing mobile telephone numbers are not affected by this number switch.
The new telephone numbers of the Federal Administration can be looked up individually on the website of the Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU).
