Cantonal grants and loans 2012 – 47,576 people received cantonal grants and loans in 2012

Neuchâtel, 21.10.2013 - (FSO) - In 2012, the cantons awarded grants and loans to a value of CHF 318 million. This included federal government funding of CHF 25 million (8%). From the total funding for education, CHF 302 million was paid out in the form of grants, while the remaining CHF 16 million was paid out as loans. In 2012, 47,576 people benefited from the cantonal grants and loans. This corresponds to 8% of people who were in post-compulsory education. While the funds used for the grants have remained constant, the number of people in post-compulsory education has increased by around 30% in the last ten years. These are the new results from the Student Grant and Loan Statistics conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
