Statistics on tourist accommodation 2010 – Youth hostels and campsites

Neuchâtel, 29.04.2011 - (FSO) - According to the Federal Statistical Office's (FSO) annual results for 2010, the 56 youth hostels included in the survey registered 939,000 overnight stays, i.e. a drop of 0.8% compared with 2009. The 419 campsites in the survey recorded 3.3 million overnight stays, representing a decline of 10% compared with 2009. In both types of accommodation, Swiss demand generated more than half of total overnight stays, i.e. 58% in youth hostels and 53% in campsites.
