Bern, 19.08.2009 - The Federal Council has instructed the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) to set up a project organisation team to deal with the second complex request for administrative assistance from the USA and has appointed Hans-Jörg Müllhaupt as project coordinator. Working on the basis of the International Treaty between Switzerland and the USA on matters relating to UBS, this project organisation team should enable the FTA to deal quickly with the forthcoming administrative assistance request. The project organisation team will be set up in stages and should be fully operational within two to three weeks.

Hans-Jörg Müllhaupt is a qualified lawyer. He began his career as the court registrar in the District Court in Baden, moving to the Supreme Court and Administrative Court of the Canton of Aargau, and was then employed by the legal services section of  the Aargau Cantonal Council. Thereafter he was the Town Chancellor in Baden for ten years, before taking up the position of lawyer and substitute judge in the Administrative Court of the Canton of Aargau. From April 1992 until August 2006, he was President of the Tax Appeals Commission of the Canton of Aargau.
