Resident population in Switzerland, 2007 – Significant increase in Switzerland’s population

Neuchâtel, 28.08.2008 - (FSO) – The permanent resident population in Switzerland grew by 84,800 people in 2007, reaching almost 7.6 million inhabitants at the end of the year according to final figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). This increase is mainly due to the migratory balance. Population growth is stronger in certain cantons and in urban areas.
