Bern, 16.04.2024 - Bern, 15.04.2024 – Swissnex is the Swiss global network for education, research, and innovation. The year 2023 was shaped by the inauguration of Swissnex in Japan, the introduction of initiatives like the Indo-Swiss Innovation Platform in India, the “Metropolis” program in San Francisco, and various activities to foster international cooperation and innovation. The Swissnex annual report showcases the broad variety of projects, events, and many other activities run by Swissnex across the globe over the past year.

The annual report 2023 looks back at the wide range of activities run by Swissnex across its six main locations and 20 Science Counselors in Swiss embassies worldwide. During the past year, the Swissnex locations successfully curated more than 360 events and activities (270 in 2022) in partnership with Swiss organizations and international partners. Almost 100 of Switzerland's most promising start-ups have benefited from the internationalization camps that Innosuisse has held at various Swissnex locations.

The past year has been a landmark period for Swissnex, reinforcing its role as the global nexus for Switzerland in the realms of education, research, and innovation.

$In Japan, the opening in October of a new Swissnex main location in Osaka was a major milestone. Swissnex in India unveiled the Indo-Swiss Innovation Platform, a conduit for fostering collaboration between India and Switzerland in health, sustainability, and digital transformation. With the "Metropolis" program, Swissnex in San Francisco hosted three events in Switzerland, followed by a multi-day festival in the USA. In China, Swissnex ramped up its activities with the "InCube Challenge" , connecting young Swiss talents with the Chinese offices of global corporations.

The area of startup internationalization achieved further expansion, with Swissnex in Boston and New York launching the "Climate Collider" in collaboration with Innosuisse. This exchange program aims to build a transatlantic startup community and foster international collaboration in climate innovation. Moreover, Swissnex in Brazil bolstered the visibility of Swiss entrepreneurship, enabling 11 Swiss startups to showcase their innovations at Web Summit Rio, one of the world's most relevant technology conferences.

The increase in activities that began about two years gained further momentum, nearing pre-pandemic levels. This revival includes both new and established formats of interaction, guided by the Swissnex' strategic framework of the Agenda 2023, which has significantly shaped the activities throughout 2023.

Swissnex is the global network connecting Switzerland and the world in education, research, and innovation. Its mission is to support the outreach and active engagement of its partners in the international exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent. The 6 main Swissnex locations are established in the world's most innovative regions. Together with more than twenty Science Offices and Counselors based in Swiss Embassies, they contribute to strengthen Switzerland's profile as a world-leading innovation hotspot.
