State Secretary Helene Budliger Artieda takes part in the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi

Bern, 23.02.2024 - The thirteenth Ordinary Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 26 to 29 February. State Secretary Budliger Artieda will represent Switzerland at this conference and voice Switzerland’s support for the idea of reforming the WTO and strengthening the multilateral trading system.

The WTO forms the basis of the rules-based multilateral trading system. It is therefore of great importance for the Swiss economy, which is closely integrated into international value chains. Accordingly, Switzerland has a keen interest in a strong WTO and is campaigning in Abu Dhabi for a reform of the organisation and the important mechanism for the settlement of disputes. Other important topics to be addressed at the ministerial conference will be agriculture, development issues, e-commerce, investment facilitation, fisheries subsidies as well as trade and the environment.

Ms Budliger Artieda will also take the opportunity to meet with numerous high level representatives attending Abu Dhabi conference for various bilateral meetings.
