Switzerland organises a third seminar in Lausanne on the UN Human rights Council
Berne, 28.8.2006 - On 28 August 2006, Switzerland organised another seminar on the subject of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the issue of how the Council should address the human rights situation in individual countries as well as the implementaion of an innovative mechanism of universal periodic reviews. All countries were invited to participate in these informal discussions. Over 250 participants from 140 countries attended the meeting together with international human rights experts. The President of the Human Rights Council, Ambassador Luis Alfonso De Alba, and representatives of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights also participated.
