"Branded as Swiss…genuinely Swiss?"

Bern, 9.3.2010 - The dispatch for the 'Swissness' legislative amendment was approved by the Federal Council on 18 November 2009. The bill strengthens the domestic protection of the designation of origin "Swiss" and the Swiss Cross as well as facilitating law enforcement abroad. It therefore provides a basis for preserving the value of the "Swiss" brand for the future. This legislative amendment is not without controversy, however. The exhibition "Branded as Swiss…genuinely Swiss?" in the Political Forum of the Confederation is dedicated to this contemporary issue. The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property together with Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlump and the Political Forum of the Confederation gave details of the planned legislative amendment during a media conference at the opening of the exhibition in Bern on 9 March 2010.
