Producer and Import Price Index in July 2012 – Renewed declining index due to lower prices for petroleum products
Neuchâtel, 14.08.2012 - (FSO) - The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) fell by 0.3% in July 2012 - as it already had in June - compared with the previous month, reaching 97.9 points (base December 2010 = 100). This decline was again due in particular to lower prices for oil and petroleum products, but metals and metal products also showed a price decline. While the producer price index for domestically produced goods decreased slightly by 0.1%, import prices showed a drop of 0.7%. The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped by 1.8% year on year.
