Swiss Labour Force Survey and its derivative statistics: Labour supply in 1st quarter 2012 – 2.0% increase in the number of employed persons; unemployment rate based on ILO definition 4.3%
Neuchâtel, 28.06.2012 - (FSO) - According to figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the number of employed persons in Switzerland rose by 2.0% between the 1st quarter 2011 and the 1st quarter 2012. Within the European Union, it remained practically stable (-0.1%). During the same period, the unemployment rate as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) remained almost stable in Switzerland, declining from 4.4% to 4.3%. The EU's unemployment rate as defined by the ILO rose from 9.9 to 10.6%.
