Bankruptcy Statistics 2011 – Slight fall in the number of bankruptcies in 2011

Neuchâtel, 22.05.2012 - Neuchâtel, 22.05.2012 (FSO) - In 2011, 11,073 new cases of bankruptcy were recorded in Switzerland, representing a decline of 1.3% compared with 2010. During the same period, losses resulting from the closing of bankruptcy proceedings rose by 3.1%. Furthermore, almost 2.7 million summons to pay were issued in 2011, i.e. 1% more than in 2010. These are the main findings of the debt collection and bankruptcy statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
