Statistics on tourist accommodation 2012 – Marked decline in overnight stays in March

Neuchâtel, 09.05.2012 - (FSO) - According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the Swiss hotel industry registered 3.1 million overnight stays in March 2012. This corresponds to a decrease of 8.1% (-271,000 overnight stays) compared with March 2011. Foreign visitors registered 1.7 million overnight stays, which represents a decline of 12% (-236,000 overnight stays). Domestic visitors generated 1.4 million overnight stays, i.e. a decline of 2.5% (-35,000 overnight stays).
