Where does government business take place?
The federal councillors each have their offices in their own departments. They come together for their weekly meeting in the Federal Council meeting room. Special events are held in the Lohn country residence or the Beatrice von Wattenwyl-Haus in Bern.
The Federal Council holds its weekly meeting in the Federal Council meeting room – also nicknamed the ‘Federal Chalet’.
The Federal Council uses the Lohn country residence primarily to receive guests of state. Numerous heads of state have been welcomed there.
In the Von Wattenwyl House the Federal Council receives guests, signs agreements and holds political talks.
